Diese kleine Schlange habe ich in der Tropenstation La Gamba in Costa Rica 2016 fotografiert. Über die Schlange ist wenig bekannt und wie immer gibt es irrsinnig viele Unterarten. Im Englischen wird sie auch Papageienschlange genannt. Was keiner bei dem Foto ahnt: Zu diesem Zeitpunkt standen etwa 10 interessierte Biologen um die kleine Pflanze herum, auf der die Schlange gefunden wurde. Außerdem hat sie noch erfolgreich einen Kollegen gebissen. Deswegen kann ich mit Sicherheit behaupten, dass der Biss keine bleibenden Schäden hinterlässt... Auch Biologen müssen manchmal lernen, dass man Tiere nicht ärgern sollte.

This lil‘ snake, also known as parrot snake, was snapped by myself at the field station La Gamba (Costa Rica) in 2016. There is not really much known about the species and as always, there are a ton of subspecies. Something that nobody expects when seeing this picture: approximately 10 amazed biologists surrounded the little tree where the snake was found on. Also, it managed somehow to bite a colleague of mine, so I can say for sure that the bite does not cause permanent damage… sometimes even biologists have to learn that aggroing animals is never a good idea.
