...a wonderful church in this tuscan valley....it's from the 13. or 14. century, I guess...very clear and well-structured architecture....I love this churches from those period...it was a time (just like the early renaissance), before roman catholicism turns to overwhelming pomp and complacency.   Actually it is an abbey founded by monks already before the year 1000. it was a stop for pilgrims traveling to and from Rome. Also Charlemagne stopped ther at the end of year 700...
  It is located near Montalcino, a town renowned for its vineyards and the production of one of the best and most expensive Italian wines.
  I guess you’d appreciate a taste of it.

  I did. There's a little Italian restaurant in our town, run by a woman from South Italy, Gabriella (very fine cook, very friendly and ..very attractive...) with real italian cooking...we go there once a month to feel real good. We had there a bottle of Montalcino-wine: real fine, very tasty and...very expensive. But it was okay. I love it. Ciao, mia cara amica, buonanotte! Ansgar

  Grazie per il commento, Claudine. I monaci francesi nel frattempo se ne sono tornati in Francia, ad Avignon. Peccato, i canti gregoriani sono così belli da ascoltare...
  Ora non c'è più una comunità religiosa residente per quel che ne so.
