Kastoria is a lovely small town at the remotest north west border of Macedonia, situated on a picturesque lake. Winters are exceptionaly heavy in that region and, very often, the lake is thickly frozen....

…the harsh climate of the region was just too much for that poor cursed weaving lady from the mellow island of shalott! and, if you look closely, you can still see that looong delicate veil of hers that she desperately tried to catch fish in on that last part of her journey to kastorian camelot. well, at least she's not ALL alone there, at the bottom of her boat but escorted by a reverent cortège of three ducks and a procession of ill-mannered gulls, inappropriately screeching "oh, when the saints…"

don't mind me, alexander! i had so much fun imagining a beautiful damsel's corpse at the bottom of the boat… a very atmospherical and poetic image! both "the wild swans at coole" and "ophelia" come to mind, too, when gazing at the boat
of the lady of shalott! ; )) greetings, sabine.

This old, lonely fishing boat makes a very good contrast. The light and dark of the water and in the background the landscape of the beautiful scenery.
