The Living Forest (379) : Autumn Crocus
Everywhere in the forest, the autumn crocuses are in full bloom at the moment.
Autumn crocus (also known as naked lady) is a flower that resembles the true crocuses, but blooms late summer/early autumn.
The name "naked lady" comes from the fact that the flowers emerge from the ground long time after the leaves have died.
Deadly poisonous !
Dutch name : Herfsttijloos
German name : Herbstzeitlose
Latin name : Colchicum autumnale (syn. Colchicum multiflorum)
