Story of Vietnam, pt 1-4

This photo, taken in Ho Chi Minh City, tells the story of Vietnam in 4 parts. First came the French colonisers, bringing their tennis umpire chairs, from which to sit and rule from above. Then came the war, bringing destruction, leaving rubble behind its wake. Recovery struggled, hand in hand with poverty, as shoddy lop-sided buildings emerged. Today, the country thrives, and towers reach the sky as the country experiences modernisation.
And I, a curious French traveler, sit on the broken throne of my ancestors to observe and learn the story of Vietnam.
