Known as Ogoh Ogoh the statues are prepared for the great ceremony two days later.
The fidures take the shape of mythological, evil creatures and gods to represent negative aspects of living things and criticise society and its latest issues.

      Danke Anne, vorgestern und gestern wurde das Nyepi Fest, das balinesische Neujahr, mit viel Aufwand gefeiert und die Ogoh Ogoh Statuen durch die Straßen getragen. Die sind alle ein wenig beängstigend gestaltet, denn sie stellen die bösen Dämonen dar. Die Statuen werden hinterher verbrannt. Meine Serie ist brandaktuell und zeigen Bilder des Nyepi Festes, an dem ich bereits das vierte Mal mit Begeisterung teilnahm. Liebe Grüße aus Bali Wolfgang
