Barter Island, Kaktovic, Alaska in September. It is the month when the locals start their hunt for a pair of bowhead and / or other whales. Their meat is consumed by the people and the remains end up on the famous bone pile. The picture shows a 3-year-old male polar bear looking for those remains. Although we also searched intensively, both at sea and on land, this was the only polar bear we saw during our stay. In the left background part of the remains of the whale bones are visible.

An extraordinary great wildlife picture of this polar bear. The image design with only the 'half' head and the very low position is fantastic and extremely successful!

  I agree fully with the content of seeing these animals in their habitat, let's hope politics have the same thinking , the low position was due to the fact that we had a small boat where low position , eye level was possible , regards and thanks for the comment Regi ,
