Lieber Gott, ich bitte dich,
ich bin ja noch so klein,
sorge Tag und Nacht für mich,
dann schlafe ich gut ein.

Mach, dass es immer gut mir geht
und dass der Federflaum
das Fliegen bald einmal versteht;
schenk mir den schönsten Traum.

Schau, ich reck den Schnabel rauf
und bete dich brav an,
bald reiße ich den ganz weit auf
vertilge, was ich kann.

Ich bitte auch um Glück und Freud,
hab davon schon gehört,
weiß zwar noch nicht, was das ist heut,
glaub nicht, dass dich das stört.

Lass größten Wurm allein für mich
und trauliches Revier,
wenn nicht, bist du verantwortlich
und das, das merk ich mir!
