Muscovy Duck

The Muscovy duck is a large duck which is native to Mexico, Central and South America.

Muscovies had already been domesticated by various native American cultures in the New World when Columbus arrived.
The first few specimen were brought to Europe by the European explorers in the 16th. century.

Very remarkable : although the Muscovy duck is a tropical bird, it adapts trouble free to icy and snowy conditions down to –12°C and even below !

Dutch name : Muskus eend
German name : Moschusente
Latin name : Cairina moschata

unusual looking, handsome at the same time - you are looking to see them where you live and your image is sharp and the plumage well devined ... the only Muscovy Duck I ever saw was in Buenos Aires :-((((

Dass sie mit Schönheit nicht gesegnet wurde weiß sie wohl nicht. Sehr selbstbewußt sitzt sie am Teich und genießt die Sonnenstrahlen, die es dieses Jahr nur selten gibt. Ein sehr schönes Entenportrait in prima Farben und Licht hast Du hier aufgenommen.

as white as snow, as red as blood, as black as ebony – a beautiful combination of colors! and despite his red face he looks quite content, chilling peacefully in the sun. so maybe that's why he's such a great adaptive one, a survival artist: "don't worry, be happy and don't ever let red rage get the better of you!" nice and easy does it! ; )) greetings, sabine.
