Highway 1 - criss-crossing the Baja Peninsula from coast to coast is the only road that takes one from Tijuana to Cabo San Lucas. Its about 2000 km length has mostly stretches like this one going through mountains, desert, flat stretches and having two lanes, no shoulder, few places to stop, little traffic but often big trucks .... and sometimes motorcycles or a bicycle (?) riding down the narrow lanes - our nerves were tested, especially knowing that we had to come back back on that same road :-)))

Das sind mal ganz andere "Telegrafenmasten", ich kann mir lebhaft vorstellen wie da auf dieser ewig langen Straße ein merkwürdiges Gefühl aufkommt....

oh dear, sounds like "rocky" driving indeed! and one doesn't want to end up as your everyday armadillo roadkill resting peacefully against the foot of a tall but indifferent cactus… ; )) good to hear you managed to go through the ordeal TWICE and come out of it unharmed! the passing trucks sound really scary… but WOW, WHAT A SHOT! the look down the road and the "western" (as in "western flicks" ; )) landscape is so beautiful!! in fact, it's am image that lucky luke himself may have taken, while riding leisurely off into the sunset! ; ) hugs, sabine.
