- Nikon D70 - AF-S 18-70mm - @18mm (= 27mm KB-Format) -Belichtung 30 sek. - Blende 6.3 -
Bild am Rechner bearbeitet (beschnitten + leicht gedreht)

Hi Steffen,
das sieht gut aus, durch die lange Belichtung bekommt das Meer etwas märchenhaftes. Über etwas mehr Luft über dem Mond möchte ich Kai-Uwe schon zustimmen :-)

Sehr schön! Hätte vielleicht ein bischen mehr "Luft" über dem Mond gelassen, das ist aber mein einziger Kritikpunkt.

Yes, the D70 has a noise reduction function which you can switch on, if you want. I did it.
In this case, my D70 is reducing the noice of the picture directly after that I have taking it. I see at the display only "Job nr". Then I have to wait around 20-30 seconds before the D70 is finally displaying the picture I took.
I haven't worked anything regarding anti-noising at the computer with this pictures. So the picture is as it comes out from the camera. Just cuted a little bitt. :-)

I do not see any effect of hotpixels or pixelnoise on this picture even shutter-time was 30s.
Does the Nikon D70 set the hotpixel/noise-reduction to a high range by default or did you made any settings on the camera or during post-processing? Beyond the pleasant touch of this pictures by it's colour-tones I miss a natural effect on the water-surface. It looks like frozen and around the rocks I see fringes, which seems to come from noise-reduction algorithms typicaly used by Canon and Nikon inside the camera to hide the disadvantages of the D-SLR-type-cameras against the SLR-type-cameras. I would be nice if you would tell me more about your settings on the camera ie. during postprocessing as well as the characteristics of the Nikon regarding noise-reduction, etc. under such light- and time exposure-conditions.

Important for the DoF (depth-of-field, Schaerfentiefe) except the focal-length (Brennweite) is the focuse-level (Fokalebene). That means the distance to the object on which you adjusted the focuse. As this point is very far away even the DoF is "endless at f6.3. I don't know the exact focal-length gain of the Nikon, but as you mentioned that 18mm is 27mm 35mm-film focal-length you get more DoF at f6.3 with your D-SLR type D70 as a normal SLR-type camera.
The colour-tones are pleasant but I think the white-balance is not correct as I can't imagine any kind of light-distortion of the atmosphere which make the sky look like steel.

Habe die Bildinformation mit der benutzten Brennweite ge-updated. (18mm = 27mm bei Kleinbildformat).
Vielleicht ist gerade deswegen die Blende 6.3 für die Schärfentiefe ausreichend!?

Wunderschöne Aufnahme. Perfekt umgesetzt. Klasse Arbeit. Hier stimmt einfach alles: Belichtung, Kontrast und vor allem die Schärfe (was bei einer Blende von 6 ja eher ungewöhnlich ist, zumindest bei mir brauch ich da immer ne elfer oder höher, um bei Mondschein die Schärfe hinzukriegen)
