Yes it is Hibiscus. I was trying to focus more on the stigma rather than the flower itself. I find them more interesting since we don't normally get to see them at a glance.

I know you will get better as you take more picture and become acquainted with your camera. Looking forward to more posts from you and welcome to FC.
Neophyte here and this is the very first shot I ever uploaded. Thanks for the advise. Keep thenm coming. I really need suggestions so as to improve my shots.
Welcome to FC! Nice idea to use the flower itself as a soft, blurry background. Small remark: try to shift the depth of field range slightly more to the front, so that the 5 red dots are sharp. They are the "eyes" of your portrait. Maybe some more green at the left, for the balance in the composition?
