On the farm (16) : Silkie

The silkie is a breed of chicken named for its atypically hairy plumage, which is said to feel like silk.

The breed exists in different shapes & colours and originates from China where it is also eaten.
In Europe however, it is only used for exhibitions in poultry shows.

Dutch name : Zijdehoen
German name : Seidenhuhn
Latin name : Gallus gallus domesticus brisson
