The Yeni Cami, meaning New Mosque; originally named the Valide Sultan Mosque (Turkish: Valide Sultan Camii) and later New Valide Sultan Mosque (Turkish: Yeni Valide Sultan Camii) after its partial reconstruction and completion between 1660 and 1665; is an Ottoman imperial mosque located in the Eminönü quarter of Istanbul, Turkey. It is situated on the Golden Horn, at the southern end of the Galata Bridge, and is one of the famous architectural landmarks of Istanbul.

love the motion blur! it enlivens the congregation of believers on the floor: they look so pleasantly relaxed and surprisingly casual in their non-nonsense subtly-colored clothes! i guess it's how one looks, when the rituals of religion are an integral part of one's daily routines… what a beautiful and fabulously lit place this mosque is! the warm, divine shine near the ceiling vs. the cool but distinguished lamp light down below, where the people are: fascinating! hugs, sabine.Dragomir Vukovic 06/12/2014 2:56
