Sie sollten Eindringlinge auf dem Weg zum Tal des Todes vom Weiterweg abschrecken.
Es sind mehrere Kolosse an dieser Stelle gefunden worden.
Mit dieser Aufnahme wird diese Wirkung durch die Größe der einer Figur besonders betont, weil sie scheinbar den Berg im Hintergrund übertrifft. Aber erst wenn man die Personen am unteren Rand entdeckt, wird dies so eindringlich bestätigt.
