Mask at the Phi Ta Khon festival
The Phi Ta Khon Festival in the village of Dan Sai is held every year between March and June.
The Festival is unique to the Dan Sai district in Loei Province and reflects the local Isan belief in ghosts and spirits.It is part of a grand merit-making festival known as the "Boon Luang" festival.
The hideous-looking Phi Ta Khon mask which is made of dried sticky rice husk is painted in bright red, green or other colours, and features the characteristic long pointed nose.

Loei, einer der kältesten Orte im Winter in Thailand. ich bin da Ende der 80, Anfang der 90 mal abgehauen weil die Temperatur nur wenige Grad über 0 lag und ich darauf nicht eingestellt war. Schon verständlich dass sie ihr Festival nicht in diese Zeit legen.Ein schöne Maske ist das.
