  709 metres.
  The highest point in the lake district, (and in England) is only about 1,000 metres.

  It is a very nice area - when there is some sunshine.
  But it is also the wettest part of England.
  Here is another fact for you.
  These distinctive hills in this picture - the Langdale Pikes - were said to be very important to "Stone-Age Man" - because there is evidence that the foot of these hills were an important source of flint (stone) tools.
