...heißt der Tunnel, dessen Portal links im Schatten liegt und in der RE gleich eintauchen wird.

Ein einsames Gleisstück erinnert an einen Anschluß
und an möglicherweise doch etwas bessere Zeiten,
zumindest für die Eisenbahn,
wenn man sich den heutigen Fahrplan mit lediglich einem RE in jeder Richtung betrachtet,
von einem IC-Zugpaar an Wochenenden abgesehen.

Mein Standort an einem ehemaligen Eisenbahnerhaus ist heute in Privatbesitz.
Auf diese Tatsache wurde ich recht unfreundlich hingewiesen, aber das Bild war im Kasten.

  Maybe you know, Steve, that the Schwarzwaldbahn was planned by Robert Gerwig who then also planned the Gotthard line in mostly the same manner.
  Here the trains have to go through no less than 39 tunnels(between just 30 to more than 1800 m long) on a perfectly constructed line that uses side-valleys to gain height to get over the black forest mountains from Offenburg at 159 m a.s.l. up to 832 m on it´s summit after 66 km. Very scenic and an enjoyable trip on these double-storey-trains, noteably on the upper deck! Maybe next time when you´re in Germany again... and there´s another attractive line nearby(see what I´ll post next these days!)
  In steam and diesel days the locomotives had to wistle each time when a tunnel was entered, and I remember that well when I travelled the Schwarzwaldbahn in these long gone days... but this rule was abandoned in the 90s...

  Thanks for this information, Tom. I actually had no knowledge of the history of this line, but your photos and description have definitely put it on my list of must-see's for next trip to Germany!
  I'll also keep an eye out for your coming photos of the other line nearby.

Ja, so manche Fernferkehrsstrecke ist die letzten Jahre zur Eilzugpiste herabgestuft worden. Ruhr-Sieg, Würzburg-Treuchtlingen, die Frankenwaldrampe und und und..
Der für mich stimmige IR fehlt auf diesen Relationen.
