Hello dear Wen
"American Amateur Photographer" was the name of the club and the journal Stieglitz founded and edited to promote his new ideas about photography. Thus I think he wouldn't object being called one. What's most amazing about him is that his remarks and ideas are so witty and fresh even more after a century... or maybe more contemporary than ever.
Kindest regards, and thanks again for your comments
PS And thanks to pointing out my error about Steiglitz, it's all copastetic now
From Rick Doble:
Wen P -- I just came across your comments about my work -- it is very gratifying that you both like my work and understand it.
What I love about the Internet is that I can reach a community around the world, not just in one location or even one large world class city like New York. It is a virtual community of people scattered across the globe. Perhaps art and critical assessment can be now crafted from this perspective.
BTW although I am 62 I feel I am just getting started. Recently I have been unable to do as much work on my photos as I would like, because I have been too busy earning a living. But that just means I have lots of latent images that will burst out when I have time.
Send me an email, so we can correspond, if you would like
Hey Wen - Sorry I haven't been in touch more, but all hell is breaking loose here in Vancouver. I will be away in Asia for most of December, so I want to wish you a Merry Christimas and an Ass-Kicking New Year.
Hi Wen, It is nice to know that you liked my picture enough to vote it pro to the gallery. It just missed it ...just by a little hair ....of the tail of the dog....as Eddie says. EhEhEhEh.
