    .... danke, lieber Ansgar und bin gespannt auf weitere Fotos von Dir.
    Ich persönlich fände ein Bild mit Titel (auch wenn nur 1 Wort vorhanden)
    besser als mit Nummern.

    Lieber Ansgar,
    ich finde Titel, wenn sie gut sind, vieeel besser als fantasielose Nummern- womöglich noch, wie die Kamera die Fotos benennt. Ein Foto mit Eisvogel zu benennen, wenn es einen Eisvogel zeigt, ist natürlich auch nicht viel besser als eine Nummer. Da ist eben Fantasie gefragt!
    Überleg´s dir noch mal!

    Good morning Ansgar, thank you very much for this dedication, you really excited me with this gentle offer that I appreciate greatly.
    This statue is part of a statue group created to commemorate King Vittorio Emanuele in the late 1800s.
    At the beginning it was positioned in front of the Ducal Palace in the Piazzetta, but as the place was not judged suitable it was then moved along Riva degli Schiavoni where it is currently located.
    The detail you photographed is an allegorical figure of the Serenissima wielding a sword, it is broken as a result of the defeat suffered against Austria.
    She is depicted imprisoned, but what we can't see is the Lion of St. Mark at her feet which tries to bite the chains to free her.
    It is the eternal historical cycle of Italy: from the altar to the dust....

      thanks a lot for the informations, my dear! I looked into my books, I asked Mr. Google and Sir Wikipedia but I couldn't found out anything about this statue - except that it is on the Vittorio Emanuele II monument. And that I knew already. So I took the right symbol to start my foto-show....Ciao, mia cara sorella! Ansgar
