Simi island
Simi is a tine island in the south Dodecanese complex of Aegean Sea just few miles away from the Turkish shore. It has a long ancient greek naval history being a very loyal ally to the Rodians and rival to the Athenians. The island thrived between 1600 to 1800 when sponge industry started quickly developping and its merchant captains crossing Mediterranean brought considerable wealth to the island and built beautiful houses to their families. Also with their fleet and fortune contributed significantly in the Greek revolution against the Turks and the Independence war of 1821.
Now these houses are left as a fortune to the hands of their descendants who, unable to cover maintainance expenses, ask desperately for support from the state that doesn't come...In the same time, the state demands to be preserved as part of National Heritage... A crazy situation.

Eine fantastisch schöne und auch gute Aufnahme !Die Farben im Abendlicht sind großartig und dazu die dramatische Wolkenbildung am Himmel.
Ein wunderschöner Platz, an dem ich mich sicher auch wohl fühlen könnte, aber die "verrückte" Situation verhindert dies.
