Le PORC-ÉPIC à crête est une espèce de la famille des porcs-épics de l'Ancien Monde.
C'est un rongeur nocturne terrestre qui se rencontre depuis la Sicile :-) sur la côte nord-africaine jusqu'au Sud de la Tanzanie et au Nord du Congo. Il tolère un grand nombre de milieux comme la montagne, les déserts et les forêts.
